Position Title: Intern – Economic Empowerment and Innovation Center (EEIC)

Location: Hybrid (Washington, DC or Remote)

Duration: Summer 2025 (with potential extension)

Compensation: Unpaid (Eligible for academic credit)

About the Role

The Economic Empowerment and Innovation Center (EEIC) Intern will provide critical support in advancing inclusive economic opportunity through entrepreneurship, innovation, and partnership development. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in community-centered economic development.

You’ll assist with administrative operations, event and speaker logistics, program application management, research, and digital content support — all while contributing meaningfully to a growing ecosystem focused on empowering underserved entrepreneurs.

Key Responsibilities

Program & Administrative Support

  • Manage communications and materials for the Introduction to Small Business program.
  • Maintain a resume database of professionals (e.g., facilitators, grant writers).
  • Assist with general EEIC operations and coordination.

Speaker & Partner Engagement

  • Coordinate speaker logistics for events (bios, headshots, presentations, prep calls).
  • Research and identify prospective speakers, partners, and CDFIs.

Research & Grants

  • Identify and compile grant opportunities in Excel.
  • Conduct research on entrepreneurial support programs and resources.

Website & Resource Management

  • Assist with website content updates (job/funding postings, expired listings).
  • Curate financial, employment, and small business resources for online publication.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college/graduate program (fields like Public Policy, Business, Communications, or Nonprofit Management preferred)
  • Excellent organizational and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; Google Workspace familiarity a plus
  • Able to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail
  • Passionate about entrepreneurship, equity, and economic empowerment
  • Interest in or experience with emerging AI tools for productivity and research
