How It Began At Kingdom Global CDC

Kingdom Global Community Development Corporation (Kingdom Global CDC) is a nonprofit organization strengthening communities by empowering individuals and families in Maryland through integrated services, strategic resources and transformative training. We are dedicated to cultivating collaborative partnerships, and creating comprehensive, innovative solutions for thriving communities.

What began as an effort to meet hunger and food insecurity during the pandemic has grown into a holistic, community-driven center serving thousands of families each year by addressing:

  • Hunger & Food Security
  • Health & Wellness
  • Employment Readiness
  • Economic Empowerment
  • And More

Today's challenge: Urgent needs in our communities.

Despite being located in one of the nation’s wealthiest regions, thousands of families in Montgomery, Prince George’s, and Howard counties are struggling to meet basic needs.

Without intervention, these inequities perpetuate cycles of poverty and hardship.

food insecurity is rising.

Montgomery County: Almost 90,000 people struggle with
food insecurity, including 27,000 kids.

Prince George’s County: More than 13% of residents experience hunger, the highest rate in the DC metro area.

Howard County: Despite its affluence, thousands of households lack consistent access to food.

Housing & economic instability is growing.

Over 40% of households in these counties are cost-burdened, spending more than 30% of their income on housing.

Rising rent and stagnant wages leave families vulnerable to eviction and homelessness.

Job loss and lack of access to career opportunities continue to disproportionately impact communities of color.

Health & education disparities persist.

Thousands of residents lack access to affordable healthcare and wellness resources.

Students in communities we serve face higher dropout rates and fewer opportunities for advanced education.

Our Solution: A Comprehensive Community Approach.

Care in action

This $3 million campaign is about creating long-term solutions that provide not just relief, but pathways to sufficiency and success. Through Care in Action, Kingdom Global CDC will:

Expand Food Access. Bolster our fresh food market and mobile food distribution programs to reach families in need.

Improve Health & Wellness. Connect individuals to primary care providers, health screenings, mental health resources, and wellness programs.

Create Economic Empowerment Opportunities. Assist individuals in developing the tools and habits that produce a solid financial foundation for wealth creation.

We know that when basic needs are met, individuals and families can focus on building their futures and contributing to their communities.

The Welcome Center is the starting point for community members.

In our welcome center clients are led through an intake and assessment process, creating a client profile that captures their holistic needs and services required.

This profile allows our staff to better assist clients with not just their presenting need, but also to offer wrap-around services that meet their complete needs.

Our Welcome Center is staffed by skilled, caring bilingual intake professionals and community health navigators.

A Client Choice Market.

Our new client choice market addresses food insecurity in a state-of-the-art, 10,000sf fresh food venue.

The market, designed as a grocery style model, offers a variety of fruits, vegetables, and other nutrient-dense foods.

The market provides families with greater choice in their food selection, reduces the potential of food waste, and greater dignity and respect in their shopping experience. They can shop for groceries, at no cost to them, based on their family size, nutritional needs, and cultural preferences.

Our Clothing Boutique provides a compassionate, accessible space where individuals and families can find new and gently used clothing at a nominal fee.

We aim to foster dignity and self-sufficiency by offering a variety of affordable, high-quality clothing options for all ages and sizes.

Offering the clothing at a nominal fee gives dignity and choice to our shoppers allowing them the ability contribute to their own needs.
